Genealogy & Family Photography

My winter break has been spent dong hours and hours of work in genealogy. My father use to work on his family’s side when I was a child. I remember when I was very young (in the 80s) he had a print out from those old computers that had the pages connected and he printed our family tree on dozens of pages. He taped them to the wall of his home office to better see the connections and where he had names that were missing.

At the time I didn’t find it that interesting, but now I have an absolute love for finding family names and connecting them to our family tree. I have actually been looking for names on my husband’s father’s side of the family for over 26 years with NO luck. I have spent hours looking though different lists of military members, marriage licenses, etc. and got no where. For those who have been stuck its time to try again! In April 2022 the 1950s census was published and this year it provided me the breakthrough I have been looking for!!! My husband’s dad never met his father and his mom passed away when he was only 17. He tried to give me all the info he had on them. My father in law was listed in the census along with his mother, sister, and grandparents! That gave me names and dates I would have had no other way of finding! I even found my father-in-laws, grandfather’s photo from his passport! It is a total blessing to me when I find a family photo like this! To look into the face of a stranger and yet to see the similarities to my husband and own children is incredible.

So today’s photo is a photo that was once lost to us, but that I was able to share with my father-in-law and brought back to him memories of his childhood.
